August 12, 2019
Dear parents and students,
¡ Bienvenidos a la clase de español!
My name is Mónica Parra de Bastida. I was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia S.A. I have been in the United States for many years.
This is my fourteenth year at Gulf Breeze High School teaching Spanish I & II
Prior to that, I taught Kindergarten and Elementary School in my home country.
I would like to congratulate you and your son/daughter for choosing Spanish as a foreign language. I am very proud of you for challenging yourself in this journey with confidence, hard work, enthusiasm, and dedication.
You well know that foreign language is considered an elective in the State of Florida, but at the same time it is considered a College Prep Course.
Dear students you must have at least 2 years of the same foreign language and maintain a “C” average or above to meet its requirements.
The knowledge of a second language not only enhances better opportunities in the future, but also helps develop and reinforce skills that are essential to academic studies.
This year, I will be teaching Spanish I & II, and following the curriculum that was unified in 2015 for our Santa Rosa County for all High Schools. Santillana USA Publishing Company, Inc.
I hope all of us, parents, students and teachers will have a very successful academic 2019-2020 school year.
¡BUENA SUERTE AMIGOS!
Good Luck!
Sincerely,
Señora Bastida [email protected] Phone: 916-4100 ext.4145
